Making something amazing.

Been meaning to get round to doing this for a couple weeks.
Here are photos of the process so far.
Painted the gold string with gold fabric paint (having gold fingers was amazing)
And the green i dipped in green ink which was easier of the two because the ink isn't thick like paint and the string just absorbed the colour.
The gold i literally had to paint the colour on.
And i got a cork board and painted it black.
Found it hard to decide whether to paint it black, white or grey,
but i think black is going to more aesthetically pleasing and i like contrast.
I chose a cork board because the texture on the board should be perfect for my end product.

Not going to spoil the surprise of what i'm going to be doing until i get you some finished photographs.
SO EXCITED.

And this one if a close up of the edges,
you can only see the lines once painted over slightly.
just found an interesting pattern which coincidentally fits in bloody well with this project.

Drawings I wont be using.

I have taken lots of books out the library for this project,
but i went to an exhibition tonight and decided to buy a book,
Alchemy and Mysticism.
I just couldn't resist. (Think i spent my food money for this week on it)

My original idea was to combine 3 things together,
The body
Symbols
Diagrams

So i did body drawings which i would combine with symbols and line diagrams,
this idea was influenced by the illustrations on Robert Fludd's theories.
But now I have decided to concentrate on symbols and lines.
I really just want to concentrate on producing a fabric design,
and hopefully t-shirt designs as well.

So here are my drawings i wont be using for this project,
they aren't finished,
and in my own time i will finish them and add another aspect to them,
probably collage.

As above, So below.

And with aaaallllll the knowledge i've built up on symbolism (errrr)
I want to draw up some designs based on alchemy symbols,
also been looking at wicca symbols too which i've been mixing in my project.

I'm going to be designing some fabric designs,
and t-shirts.

This one is a rough idea how they may look,
Just a mock up to see if this drawing would work repeated.

As above, so below.

Tired.

I have so much work to do for tomorrow but i'm so tired which means nothing is getting done.
Apart from this.
I don't know why.

Aten.

Instead of going to bed i thought i'd quickly blog.
Did a couple drawings today but don't have my scanner with me so can not share any with you quite yet.
I have so much to finish! work wise for uni.
I like to start things but find it hard to finish them, i think i'm scared it wont turn out how i expect.
But i'll never know if i don't try!

Well here is something i threw together with two of my drawings from last week,
symbolising Aten,
'Aten was a being who represented the god or spirit of the sun, and the actual solar disk. He was depicted as a disk with rays reaching to the earth. At the end of the rays were human hands which often extended the ankh to the pharaoh.'

Hermeticism and Alchemy.

Hermeticism and Alchemy

I'm so interested in this right now,
and my WitchCraft project has turned into this.
I feel like there's too much to grasp for one project,
but i'm going to learn as much as i can.
I have a lot of notes right now.

Instead of reading (because i've done a lot)
today i've been watching videos about this stuff.

My main idea i guess is that we've lost our connection with nature.
Magic is lost.
Hidden wisdom, is too lost.

I think I'm going to create my own illustrations 'based' on wiccan symbols, hermeticism symbols and alchemy etc.
But have facts about it's history along with it.

Episode 1

Episode 1- witchcraft

Interesting.
What i took from this, and more interested in, this form of Wicca:

Everyone has natural, born with magical powers,
It's just a question of developing them and acknowledging them and learning how to use them for the benefit of you and others- healing abilities.

We have definitely lost sight of natural things and nature.

What to do...

This one isn't finished.
Hasn't got much of a concept either at the moment.
Guess i'm still just playing around with colour.

I just heard you all calling for another post... obvs

Sex Magic.

In Wicca:
'The high priest plunges the athame (ritual knife/male symbol) into a cup or chalice (the female symbol) filled with wine and held by the high priestess.

Sounds like symbolic intercourse to me.
I also tried to add colour, the v is a feminine symbol so i used that instead of drawing a chalice, as this project is all about symbolism.

My main idea in the bigining was to base this project on witch craft.
It's kind of developed from that.
It's more about hidden wisdom (occult stuff) and very much about symbolism.

The forms & meanings of magic symbols.

I'm excited.

WitchCraft.

Along with my dissertation on psychedelic art etc,
I have a major project to do.
I've decided to base it on WitchCraft.

Once all my ideas are sorted out, i'll let you know what they are.
But for now here's something i did last week.

Psychedelic Sundaze.

Today was AWESOME.
Liz came and met me and we went and bought tickets for Psychedelic Sundaze @ Ideas Gallery in East London.
We went and had lunch in Hoxton square until the exhibit opened.
We got there and had a looked around at the insane contemporary poster designs (i'm inlove)

Hapshash Takes a Trip: The sixties work of Nigel Waymouth

My dissertation is on psychedelic art and it's era and i'm so interested in it that i've been so looking forward to going to this gallery.
