Final zine- colour version

Finished.
Main factors of this zine are that it is quirky, funny and dark.
Target audience is young people but also older ones who still remember what it was like to be a kid.

Final Zine- black and white

I decided to base my zine on childhood fears.
The location photography was round the home of places where children would be scared monsters would be waiting, or popping up.
This is my black and white copy.
This zine was very successful.
How i created the images was by a kind of collage.
I used the photographs i took and i also drew the monsters and the text.
the monsters i drew and cut out and placed in the photographs by hand by cutting up the photographs also.
i ended up using the images i photographed instead of scanned because the photographs had more shadow in them, which made it look more 3d like the monsters were coming out of their hiding places.

The font on the front and back i made by hand.
the monoprint i made of the monsters i made into a large pattern and cut the letters out of it and placed on black card.
Enjoy.

ZINE- what should i use as a front cover?

This one's my personal favourite...

It's meant to say 'CHILDHOOD FEARS'

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHICH ONE YOU PREFER!!

ZINE- Sorting out the font

... for the front page.
i decided the the font i made needs to have a black border... so that's what I've done...
Stuck the letters on to black card...
And then cut them out.
I LIKE DOING IT THIS WAY!

ZINE- Photographed

I did't want to use plain paper as the background so I have used paper from a graph pad.
I love all the triangles, i am verrrry keen on geometric shaaapes.
I took photos on location... around the home.
The photos i chose to use out of the bunch, i cut according to where the monsters would be jumping out.
(I enjoy doing most things by hand)
I drew out loads of different monsters on cartridge paper because it's not as white as plain paper.
I drew the monsters in pen and did a thick black outline around them and then cut them all out.
Drawing the monsters was the most fun.
I stuck the photos on the graph paper using blue tac, and then placed the monsters in there also using blue tac. The reason why i use blue tac is because unlike using glue you can move it all around as much as you want. The main reason why i used blue tac was to create more of an effect that the monsters are coming out at you because it propped them up.
This was brilliant when i set up the lighting and took photos of them because of the shadows they created.
Then using pen i added the type at the top of the paper.

I just need to do a front cover and back.
AND THEN make it into a zine.
WOO!

ZINE- Scanned

My Baaaabies!

Monsters for my zine.
Can't wait to have it done.
Now I'm at home i'll be able to take more pictures because my flat is too small.
Stay tuned.

More monsters for zine.

I loooove drawing monsters.
It's quick so i can draw loads and they look so good, even if i say so myself.
Mum thinks they're to scary... i love it.
These are more monsters to add in my photographs.

So far...

These are really rough ideas.
this is basically what my zine will look like inside...

First off i started drawing monsters.
Then I took photos of where as a child you would think you'd find them,
These two photographs show monsters coming out the cupboard.
I took the photographs, printed them out and them cut them up and places the monsters where they should be with blue tack so they weren't completely flat down on the paper so when i photographed them you would see shadows and look more 3D.
