Portfolio time.

the last 2 days i've been trying to sort out my portfolio for assessment.
And while i'm doing it i get to figure out what else exactly i need to do.
and it's alot. alot.
i mean a lot. (not alot)...

I have t-shirts and posters to print.
labels to design.
and try and make my portfolio look pretty and handsome.
and try and do some more work for my portfolio so it all pieces together.
ahhh.
everything's going to take so long to do, and so much effort,
and i only have 2 weeks to do it.
hurry ange, hurry.

I love it all though, it's fun and exciting.
I'm sure i'll get it done *fingers crossed*

Holidays off from uni are never holidays,
just means more compact working hours.
What i mean is, the moment i wake up to the moment i go to sleep is all dedicated to working.

Here's something i did today,
Enjoy.

Boo.

Yes, boo to me not posting in a while.
Trying to organise my head!
Had my draft dissertation hand in last week,
and i'm at work, finding myself still writing my dissertation.
No rest for the wicked.
I may moan about having to write this damn thing,
only because i'm no good at explaining what's in my head.
I love the subject i am doing it on.
PSYCHEDELIC ART.
such a misunderstood art movement. How i love you so.
I love reading about it, and the images are just incredible.
This would be perfect if i wasn't so dyslexic.
Oh and had a dyslexia meeting today, i'm wanting my free mac,
but obviously i've left it too long so don't know if 5 months is an acceptable amount of time to be at uni till it finishes to be able to get a free mac... ya get me?

Still loving playing around with fabric design idea...

I uploaded this one already but it was too plain,
So here i have made it more interesting and has more colours.
Normally my work is very black and white but as a fabric design i think more colour the better.
I'm still going to play around with this one, with colour and maybe add more lines.
I love lines.

This scanner is well good...

So good that when i pressed scan by accident when i was cleaning the screen
you can even see my face...
Today was another busy day at uni.
I thought i was going off on a tangent doing other things that didn't need to be done,
but was doing it... just because.
Turns out, doing what i did gave me some brilliant ideas to further this project.
I'm needing to brand myself and the work i do.
Coming up with a name is hard.
But i have some ideas.
When i have some more solid ideas, i will share them with you.
For some reason i don't like giving away things too soon,
i guess it's like jinxing it.
Another busy day tomorrow,
getting my fabric design printed.
I don't want to speak too soon,
but I'm well excited about seeing it big and on fabric.
Another busy day tomorrow,
best get to bed.

Finally!

This is a sneak peak.
I think i'm getting close to a proper fabric design.
I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing i want to create.
There's one other idea i want to try.
It's pretty exciting now.
This one is based on an alchemy symbol i drew.
I'd explain more but i need to go wash my hair before misfits,
(and i'd probably explain more in every single post if that ability came natural to me)

This is better:

Dya think?

I combined two drawings i did yesterday and added some colour on paint...
well i mean photoshop but it was as basic as using good old microsoft paint.
In my previous post you'll see my base idea for this.

Light and dark.

This is my illustration and interpretation for:
Robert Fludd: "We can also represent these dark and light pyramids as two combs: a light one representing the downward-pointing spiritual forces, and a dark one for the material world (see No. 1). As an adaptation of these combs, we present the the two hemispheres of No. 2, the upper one corresponding to the male, generative nature, and the other to the female, receptive to the seed of light. This material hemisphere is like wax which can be formed by the seal of spirit."

Troubles.

For this project I'm doing at uni,
trying to make a fabric design...
but you know what
I'm finding it really hard.
I don't have long to make a finish piece and get it printed!!!
Wish me luck.
I need it.

The Golden Dawn.

This is based on 'The Golden Dawn'
The hermetic order of the golden dawn. (Hermeticism and Alchemy)

And here's an explanation i couldn't copy and paste...
so i print screened for you.
I don't have a way with words you see.

Making something amazing.

Been meaning to get round to doing this for a couple weeks.
Here are photos of the process so far.
Painted the gold string with gold fabric paint (having gold fingers was amazing)
And the green i dipped in green ink which was easier of the two because the ink isn't thick like paint and the string just absorbed the colour.
The gold i literally had to paint the colour on.
And i got a cork board and painted it black.
Found it hard to decide whether to paint it black, white or grey,
but i think black is going to more aesthetically pleasing and i like contrast.
I chose a cork board because the texture on the board should be perfect for my end product.

Not going to spoil the surprise of what i'm going to be doing until i get you some finished photographs.
SO EXCITED.

And this one if a close up of the edges,
you can only see the lines once painted over slightly.
just found an interesting pattern which coincidentally fits in bloody well with this project.

Drawings I wont be using.

I have taken lots of books out the library for this project,
but i went to an exhibition tonight and decided to buy a book,
Alchemy and Mysticism.
I just couldn't resist. (Think i spent my food money for this week on it)

My original idea was to combine 3 things together,
The body
Symbols
Diagrams

So i did body drawings which i would combine with symbols and line diagrams,
this idea was influenced by the illustrations on Robert Fludd's theories.
But now I have decided to concentrate on symbols and lines.
I really just want to concentrate on producing a fabric design,
and hopefully t-shirt designs as well.

So here are my drawings i wont be using for this project,
they aren't finished,
and in my own time i will finish them and add another aspect to them,
probably collage.

As above, So below.

And with aaaallllll the knowledge i've built up on symbolism (errrr)
I want to draw up some designs based on alchemy symbols,
also been looking at wicca symbols too which i've been mixing in my project.

I'm going to be designing some fabric designs,
and t-shirts.

This one is a rough idea how they may look,
Just a mock up to see if this drawing would work repeated.

As above, so below.

Tired.

I have so much work to do for tomorrow but i'm so tired which means nothing is getting done.
Apart from this.
I don't know why.

Aten.

Instead of going to bed i thought i'd quickly blog.
Did a couple drawings today but don't have my scanner with me so can not share any with you quite yet.
I have so much to finish! work wise for uni.
I like to start things but find it hard to finish them, i think i'm scared it wont turn out how i expect.
But i'll never know if i don't try!

Well here is something i threw together with two of my drawings from last week,
symbolising Aten,
'Aten was a being who represented the god or spirit of the sun, and the actual solar disk. He was depicted as a disk with rays reaching to the earth. At the end of the rays were human hands which often extended the ankh to the pharaoh.'

Hermeticism and Alchemy.

Hermeticism and Alchemy

I'm so interested in this right now,
and my WitchCraft project has turned into this.
I feel like there's too much to grasp for one project,
but i'm going to learn as much as i can.
I have a lot of notes right now.

Instead of reading (because i've done a lot)
today i've been watching videos about this stuff.

My main idea i guess is that we've lost our connection with nature.
Magic is lost.
Hidden wisdom, is too lost.

I think I'm going to create my own illustrations 'based' on wiccan symbols, hermeticism symbols and alchemy etc.
But have facts about it's history along with it.

Episode 1

Episode 1- witchcraft

Interesting.
What i took from this, and more interested in, this form of Wicca:

Everyone has natural, born with magical powers,
It's just a question of developing them and acknowledging them and learning how to use them for the benefit of you and others- healing abilities.

We have definitely lost sight of natural things and nature.

What to do...

This one isn't finished.
Hasn't got much of a concept either at the moment.
Guess i'm still just playing around with colour.

I just heard you all calling for another post... obvs

Sex Magic.

In Wicca:
'The high priest plunges the athame (ritual knife/male symbol) into a cup or chalice (the female symbol) filled with wine and held by the high priestess.

Sounds like symbolic intercourse to me.
I also tried to add colour, the v is a feminine symbol so i used that instead of drawing a chalice, as this project is all about symbolism.

My main idea in the bigining was to base this project on witch craft.
It's kind of developed from that.
It's more about hidden wisdom (occult stuff) and very much about symbolism.

The forms & meanings of magic symbols.

I'm excited.

Wish Bone.

My Wish bone t-shirt i designed for Illustrated People is not on their website,
Which is very exciting.

And i thought i'd also show you my diamond t-shirt i designed again but on their website,

WitchCraft.

Along with my dissertation on psychedelic art etc,
I have a major project to do.
I've decided to base it on WitchCraft.

Once all my ideas are sorted out, i'll let you know what they are.
But for now here's something i did last week.

Psychedelic Sundaze.

Today was AWESOME.
Liz came and met me and we went and bought tickets for Psychedelic Sundaze @ Ideas Gallery in East London.
We went and had lunch in Hoxton square until the exhibit opened.
We got there and had a looked around at the insane contemporary poster designs (i'm inlove)

Hapshash Takes a Trip: The sixties work of Nigel Waymouth

My dissertation is on psychedelic art and it's era and i'm so interested in it that i've been so looking forward to going to this gallery.

Ideas Gallery- 'Psychedelic Sundaze'
NIGEL WAYMOUTH
 Me.
And I did some photos today too.
